Chubbie Cubbie's Valentine Activities

Activity name:
Lacey Valentine Wrapping Paper

Materials needed:
Large pieces of either newsprint, craft, or butcher paper
Paint in shades of red, pink, and white
Paper plates
Heart-shaped doilies

Preparation:
Put some paint onto paper plates.  You may wish to cover your work surface with newspaper.

Carrying out the activity:
Have the children dip a heart-shaped doily into the paint.   Then, have them press it onto the paper and peel off.

Repeat as long as you like or until the paper is covered.  You will need several doilies for each sheet of wrapping paper you create.

Variation ~
Instead of dipping the doilies into the paint, you can place them on the paper and then use a paintbrush to dab paint onto and around the doily to make the "lacey" impression.
