Rain Forest Activities
Activity name:
Who Lives in the Rainforest?
Materials needed:
Butcher paper
Scissors
Crayons or markers
Tape & glue
Calendars and magazines with animals
White paper
Jungle music
Preparation:
Draw and cut out large trees on pieces
of butcher paper. Make bushes too. Have children color them. Tape them to
the wall to make a rain forest. Cut out pictures of animals that live in
rain forests such as frogs, sloth, tigers, elephants, jaguars, monkeys,
snakes, toucans, and parrots. Glue them to the pieces of white paper.
Place them upside down around the room once they are dry.
Carrying out the activity:
Pretend to take a trip to the rain
forest. Board your canoes with paddles in hand. Play music. Pretend to
fish in the river. Paddle to land. Listen to the sounds of the rain
forest. Now, sit quietly and see what animals are living there. Have each
child flip over a picture of an animal lying around the rain forest. Ask
each child if they know what kind of animal it is. After the animal is
identified, attach them to your rain forest.
