Chubbie Cubbie's Activities for the
Olympics
Activity name:
Paper Olympic Flag
Materials needed:
Piece of white construction paper
Blue, yellow, black, green, & red construction paper
Scissors
Glue or glue stick
Preparation:
Cut out 3" circles in blue, yellow, black, green, and red.

Carrying out the
activity:
Have children glue the circles onto a piece of white construction paper to
form the flag as shown above. For older children, cut across one
side of each ring and have the children try weaving them together as they
glue them to their paper so they are interlocked.
Activity name:
Pipe Cleaner Olympic Flag
Materials needed:
Piece of white construction paper
Red, yellow, black, green, and red pipe cleaners
White glue
Preparation:
None.
Carrying out the
activity:
Have the children bend their red pipe cleaner into a circle and then twist
the ends around the circle so if forms a ring. Then, have them
make a ring from the yellow, but before twisting it closed, have them loop
it through the red ring. Continue until all rings are connected like
the picture above (in activity one).
Glue the rings onto white construction paper using
white glue.
Activity name:
Olympic Medals
Materials needed:
Ribbon
Cardboard
Glitter in gold, silver, and copper (bronze) [you can mix gold and red
together to get a close effect if you can't find a copper color]
Gold, silver, and copper (bronze) paint (If you don't have the metallic
paints, you can use similar colors of regular paint)
White glue
Preparation:
Cut out three cardboard circles about 3" in size. Punch a hole in
the top of the circle for a place to later thread the ribbon through.
Carrying out the
activity:
Paint the circles with the paint. One in each color. Paint on
some white glue and add the coordinating color of glitter.
Allow to dry and then attach the ribbon stringing it
through the hole in the medal.
Play some "Olympic" Games. Award the medals to
the winners. Or you can just use this as a craft project.
