Activity name:
Love Me; I'm Endangered

Materials needed:
Pink or red construction paper
Scissors
Felt pen
Magazines

Preparation:
Cut out hearts from the paper.  Cut out or draw pictures of an endangered animal on the back of each heart.  Label them with the animal's name.

Carrying out the activity:
Place the hearts upside down on the floor.  Have one child pick a heart.  Talk about the animal on the heart.  Have another child pick a heart.  Have the children keep picking until all the hearts are taken.  Take imaginary baby animals out of the box.  Give the animals to the children holding the heart that matches it.  Tell the children to take very good care of their baby animal.  Tell the children they can keep their animals with them all day.
