Chubbie Cubbie's Button Activities

Activity name:
Paper Button Collage

Materials needed:
Construction paper in a variety of colors
Ink pen
Scissors
Glue or glue stick

Preparation:
Cut out button shapes from construction paper. Make different shapes such as round, heart, triangle, and square. Draw on detail such as border and button holes with ink pen.

Carrying out the activity:
Have children glue their buttons onto a large piece of construction paper. They can either make a random pattern or create a picture from the buttons. If the wish to embellish their pictures with crayons, markers, etc., let them feel free.

Button Frames

Materials needed:
Heavy duty cardboard
Scissors or utility knife
Variety of buttons
Glue

Preparation:
Cut out a frame shape from the cardboard. Can be any shape you like, oval, square, etc.

Carrying out the activity:
Have the children glue buttons all around the frame. When dry, you can tape a picture of them to the back of the frame or use it to frame one of their special drawings.

Carrying out the activity:
Have the children sort the buttons into the egg carton or muffin tin by colors, shapes, sizes, etc.
