Chubbie Cubbie's 4th of July Fun!

Activity name:
Stars & Stripes Collage

Materials needed:
White construction paper
White glue or glue sticks
Red & blue construction paper
Scissors

Preparation:
Cut out red and blue stars in different sizes.  Cut out thin rectangles in different lengths.

Carrying out the activity:
Simply have the children glue the stars and thin rectangle stripes onto a piece of white construction paper anyway they choose.

Activity name:
Fireworks in the Sky

Materials needed:
Black construction paper
White glue
Water
Bowl
Straws
Glitter (any color except black)

Preparation:
Thin glue with water so that when placed on the construction paper it may be blown with the straw.

Carrying out the activity:
Place a small amount of glue on several parts of a child's piece of construction paper.  Instruct them how to blow the glue with their straw.  After the children have blown their glue, have them sprinkle their paper with the glitter.  Shake off excess glitter and allow to dry.

Activity name:
Sparklers

Materials needed:
White pipe cleaners
White glue
Bowl
Cup or clay
Scissors
Gold glitter

Preparation:
Cut some pipe cleaners in half.  Put some glue in the bowl.

Carrying out the activity:

After they have attached their short pieces to the top of their large piece, have them dip the top into the glue.  Drip off any excess and then sprinkle with glitter.  Stand in a cup or insert into a piece of clay to allow the "sparkler" to dry.
